Mary Ellen Iskerian, President CEO of Women’s World Banking, makes a compelling case for why inclusive finance matters and explns why merely providing microloans isn't sufficient to empower women while promoting sustnable and equitable economic growth.

Why Financial Inclusion Matters

Today, approximately one billion women globally are either unserved or underrepresented by traditional financial sectors, preventing them from reaching their full potential. If these women were brought together, they would form the third-largest country in terms of population size worldwide.

The untapped revenue opportunity for banks and other financial service providers if they med to serve women at rates comparable to men is nearly $700 billion annually. If women's participation were equalized by 2025, global annual GDP could increase by an additional $12 trillion. Financial inclusion isn't merely a catalyst for economic growth; it drives inclusive growth.

Moreover, millions of women in developing countries are entrepreneurs, and this number is growing rapidly. However, 70 of female entrepreneurs report insufficient access to capital necessary for business expansion.
