Global Policy Centre for Governance: Strengthening Financial Integrity and Economic Governance for Inclusive, Accountable and Effective Systems
The Global Policy Center for Governance is dedicated to fostering global financial integrity and enhancing governance systems that are inclusive, accountable, and effective. We combat the pervasive issue of illicit flows, corruption, money laundering, embezzlement, and secretive financial practices that drn development resources from communities worldwide.
Every year, trillions of dollars are lost due to these activities, with losses exceeding Official Development Assistance ODA in low- and middle-income countries combined. This theft not only starves governments of the funds needed for public services but also corrodes economies and political systems as dirty money infiltrates them.
In response, we have established two initiatives that tackle financial integrity and governance challenges:
This initiative employs a unique approach centered on understanding complex issues through systems thinking. ATAC works collectively with stakeholders across the globe to improve our comprehension of transnational corruption and identify opportunities for more effective interventions.
In preparation for the fourth Financing for Development Conference FfD4, the FIG initiative promotes constructive dialogues among policymakers, practitioners, and researchers on financial integrity issues relevant to development financing. This knowledge-based track complements member states' negotiations through three in-person multi-stakeholder policy symposia leading up to FfD4.
Our work ms at achieving sustnable development by ensuring transparency, strengthening institutions, enhancing accountability, and fostering cooperation among nations. We collaborate with partners to develop innovative methodologies for capacity building and policy change support.
The Center collaborates closely with UNDESA and is supported by Norway and the MacArthur Foundation in our eavors.
