Overview of the Financial Analyst Program

The Financial Analyst Program, launched by the Department of Economics and Business during the 1998-1999 academic year under Professor A. J. Senchack's leadership, the holder of the Lucy King Brown Chr in Economics, marks an innovative undergraduate business honors curriculum. In March 1999, it received full orsement from the Fiscal Affrs Committee of the Board of Trustees and was officially approved by the Board to establish a Student Investment Fund Fund. This program is designed to offer outstanding students an immersive experience in portfolio creation and management under faculty guidance and interaction with investment professionals.

The Fund operates as an actively managed entity by a select group of student portfolio managers, or Analysts, working alongside Department faculty. It serves as a practical platform for honing financial analysis skills through real-world scenarios. The University owment Fund is subject to the same conditions and limitations governing any other investment manager, with oversight provided by the Vice President for Fiscal Affrs and Associate Vice President for Finance. These roles guarantee fiscal responsibility and timely decision-making.
