Connected Minds Postdoctoral Fellowships

INTRODUCTION:

Advancements in technology are reshaping our world, creating a 'techno-social collective' where s and systems interact seamlessly. While these innovations hold significant potential, they also carry risks, particularly for vulnerable or marginalized communities. Our program, backed by the Canada Research Excellence Fund, York University, Queens’ University, and numerous partners from diverse sectors including industry, government, academia, healthcare, and non-profit organizations, envisions a future where technological progress promotes social health and justice worldwide with special emphasis on Indigenous populations in Canada.

The overarching goals of Connected Minds are:

  1. To uncover how - interactions generate unforeseen, emergent properties at societal levels.

  2. To anticipate how new technologies will disrupt our interconnected world.

  3. To harness these insights to drive innovative research and technology development.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the postdoctoral award under Connected Minds, candidates must align their scholarly work with this program's core themes:

  1. Co-creating Research for Societal Needs: Projects that collaborate with transdisciplinary academics and non-academic partners including Indigenous communities to develop research topics, priorities, and methodologies.

  2. Fundamentals of Social Interaction: Studies across various scales, from local neural interactions to global social networks involving both s and s.

  3. Designing and Developing Responsible Technologies: Initiatives that engage with stakeholders in industry, healthcare, government, and non-profits f innovation and policy development fostering societal welfare.
